On the Noosa Distillery Tour, there are a number of pick up locations (if you book out the private charter, Creative Tours will meet you at On The Beach Noosa front door), and you’ll be on the road heading to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at 11am. The first stop is in the gorgeous and historic town of Cooroy at the 2020 Distillery. Receive a drink on arrival and learn about the gin making process before being guided through a gin flight. Hate gin? They’ve got beer too!

Next stop is one of the On The Beach team’s favourite spots on the Sunshine Coast: the Pomona Distillery. The picturesque countryside around Pomona is a wonderful backdrop to this rustic yet refined drinking and eating house. Try their gin or vodka, or go for a curated wine or beer to have with what we can assure you will be a delicious lunch. Back on the tour, your last stop is at the Noosa Heads ‘Fortune’ Distillery. Housed in a chic industrial space that exudes a relaxed and urbane vibe, this final tasting ends on a high with a choice from Fortune’s range of seriously-mixed gin cocktails. Located in the same venue as Noosa brewing stalwart, Land & Sea, this final stop offers yet another excellent opportunity to taste and buy supplies.

Once back at your On The Beach Noosa, put your feet up as the sea breeze wafts by and toast to a day well spent.

Gustos on Noosa river

One of the most iconic restaurants on the Gympie Terrace strip: Gustos Riverfront Restaurant. When an eating house has been on the scene for over two decades, there’s a very good reason. Three actually: consistently great food, wonderful service and an excellent view. Oh, and it won’t break the bank. Gustos is the kind of place you take your loved one for a special evening out just because… any time is a good time for Gustos!

Elevated a few steps above street level with magnificent views over Gympie Terrace, the Noosa River and Laguna Bay beyond, the location certainly adds a French Riviera vibe to a meal at Gustos. Inside, the cut mirrors, long lines, individual lamps and white with black accented interior complete the French bistro theme. Settling in for the morning, afternoon or to watch the colours change into evening over the river is very easy to do here.

The Mod-Aus-French menu is chocked full of tried and tested dishes. Ask a local during the cooler months where the best Seafood Chowder can be had, and Gustos will always be the answer. The French influence can be seen throughout, with entrees like the Salmon Ceviche featuring lime caviar and chilli lime dressing, while the Moya Valley Chicken Liver Paté with cornichons, onion jam and brioche, features high quality and locally sourced ingredients. Gustos is also the king of the light lunch. Try the Red Onion and Beetroot Tartlet, spiced almonds, goat's cheese and rocket salad, or for the veganites, Braised Leeks, cashew cream, farro and chimichurri dressing.

For mains, everything is cooked to perfection and plated to be mouth-watering: Mooloolaba Prawn and Garlic Ravioli with confit leek and beurre blanc, Fish du Jour, a Kingaroy Pork Chop with all the sides or a Brisbane Valley Quail, partly deboned with wilted mixed mushrooms, pumpkin duo and quail jus. Finish off with a Gusto Lemon Tart, Crème Brulee or as the real French do, a selection of Fromages.

The Drinks menu is no slouch either, and includes lots of classic and twisted cocktails, though the Wine List is a standout. Numerous French wines are included in each varietal, along with excellent Australian and New Zealand quaffs. What we love most here, is the accessibility to a selection of great wines, ranging in price from the cheap and cheerful $45 ones, through to the kind of bottle that costs more than your first car.

But wait! There’s more!! The final reason Gustos has stood the test of culinary time is its acute understanding of the average human being. What do they love? A good special. Weekdays, there’s the lunch special which includes a main and a glass of wine for $33 or $43 with a dessert. On Saturdays, extend the lunch officially to loooong with the Bottomless Wine Lunch at $75. And finally, the pièce de résistance: Sunday Lunch Roast including Bangalow pork belly, amazing crackling, cauliflower gratin, green beans, paris mash and apple sauce from noon until sold out for $39.

Gustos is no secret: guests and locals alike know just how many culinary boxes it ticks. Sometimes you get lucky, and walk right onto the best table, other times, the place is full. It’s always best to book.

El Capitano

In between the famous Café Le Monde and always busy Betty’s Burgers, a narrow walkway leads to El Capitano, a pizzeria and bar turning out fantastic food and good time vibes. Frequented by all kinds including salty haired hipsters, hungry families and discerning locals, this is not your average pizza place. While all the usual pizza suspects are on the menu, more sophisticated offerings from the italo-aus menu showcase Australian meats and produce, 72hour fermented sourdough bases and fancy fare such as Confit Yellow Fin Tuna with grilled sourdough and green olive aioli: El Capitano has hit upon the right recipe of relaxed and hip dining with fantastic tasting food. And everyone is catered for here; Margherita, Slow Roasted Lamb Shoulder, Smoked Pancetta or Vegan Zucchini Pizza anyone?? With a great craft beer list, El Capitano also takes the hassle out of traipsing around to every brew house in Queensland: just perch up here in one of the booths with your kids, the family and friends and watch the Hastings St traffic go by down below. Afterall, pizza and holidays go hand in hand!

Aromas Noosa

Aromas sets the scene with the café style of woven white and black chairs in the Cote-d-Azur style and decidedly Parisian outlook on Hastings St life. As part of the dining scene for decades after starting out as a simple sandwich and coffee bar, Aromas in its most recent evolutionary form is an opulent dining option catering to just about every mood, appetite and social grouping imaginable. With the consistent elegance and luxurious feel of an old world coffee house, breakfast begins at 6am with lunch, dinner and everything in between (take a look at the ‘Late for Breakfast’ menu, served until 5pm) satiating whatever food humour you might be in. The food is modern Australian, bistro-inspired and, again, consistently good thanks in no small part to the kitchen’s direct access to Maravista Farm and its supply of organically and locally grown produce. Smooth cocktails, fresh juices and a great wine list complement the food menus, designed to quench the thirst developed by a hard day on the sand. Families and couples alike are afforded plenty of opportunity to sit back and observe the passing holiday parade at Aromas, with a number of pretty fountains and pedestrian square providing a sense of spaciousness and relaxation right in the middle of busy Hastings St.

Miss Moneypennys

Located on Hastings Street, Miss Moneypennys is a stylish venue with a relaxed social atmosphere. Offering a diverse range of international cocktails, you can also enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired modern Australian cuisine.
