Immaculately dressed in whites, a touch of French Rivera blue and dark green palms, the MV Catalina is a two storeyed floating oasis, designed to transport its guests (if only for a few hours) to a place where soft DJ beats, glorious cocktails and local bites are served with elegance and charm. Boarding at Gympie Terrace, the Captain will head up or down the stunning Noosa River depending on which conditions are most favourable to sunshine and warmth, something he is invariably trying to escape in summer.
Perhaps most endearing is the ability to choose the adventure most suited to your desires from four different weekly events: this is not a cookie cutter cruise down the river! The scene is upmarket, not all-you-can-imbibe. Each event holds different kinds of music, showcases a different local cuisine and holds its own particular appeal. The Friday Night Social is an excellent way to kick off your luxury On The Beach Noosa weekend with a spectacular sunset cruise from 5.30-8.30pm, featuring music DJed from the classics, soul, funk, hip hop and R&B. Prefer the sun? Try Lunch On the Water, every Saturday from 11.30-2pm, with a little disco mixed with soul and lounge beats. Tropicale happens on a Saturday afternoon and into the evening, while Saltwater Sundays from 1.30- 5pm is a spectacular way to end the weekend. Each cruise comes with food from an everchanging menu featuring local producers.
Getting on board the Catalina is as easy as booking your ticket but beware: there is a strict dress code (smart casual as a minimum) and this is an 18+ only experience. Talk to the front office reception staff about babysitting options for your young ones.
